📚 What’s Next?

Currently, only one novel (Did You Steal My Mage Tower?) is ongoing, so memberships tiers might feel limited right now. I think I'll pick up:

• Guide to Having Multiple Aliases in a Literary Cosmic World (宇宙文坛马甲指南) by 反弹十一琵琶. Stopped updating on December 19, 2024.

• I'll post chapter 26 within this week and will update the schedule once I have enough stockpile to cater the Patreon Membership Perks.

• I'll open the GMALCW novel collection when the stockpile reaches at least 30 chapters or so.

PS. This wasn’t planned at all, but I suddenly decided to start translating Do Not Watch (请勿观赏 [无限]) by 青色羽翼. I haven’t read it either, so I’ll be reading along as I translate.

Not sure what kind of story it’ll be, but I’m hoping it turns out to be another gem like DYSMT! For now, I’ll update one chapter per week until I’ve built up enough stockpile for the membership tiers. After that, I’ll switch to a 10-chapter equivalent schedule (for reference, one of my “chapters” is around 3.5k–4k Chinese characters, and if it goes over 5k, I’ll count it as two).

I still plan to pick up GMALCW, but I’m waiting for permission to continue translating this.

First of all, thank you so much for your patience and continued support, especially to those who joined the DYSMT Collection tier. 💛

I recently discovered a small “loophole” in Patreon’s system that allows patrons to freely switch between tiers of the same price. Because of this, I’ll be restructuring how novel collections are handled to make everything fairer, simpler, and truly one-time for everyone.

💡 What’s Changing

I’ll be unpublishing the DYSMT Collection tier on Patreon and shifting all novel collections to a one-time purchase system using Google Drive.

Each collection will be:
📘 Personalized – Every buyer will receive their own private Google Drive folder for the purchased novel collection (shared directly via Gmail).
🔒 Private – Only you can access your folder; your email and name remain hidden from other readers.
🗂️ Complete and Easy to Read – Each doc includes a clickable Table of Contents, chapter links, and ongoing updates as more chapters are added.
♾️ Permanent Access – You’ll always retain access, unless something extreme happens (like Google Drive being discontinued 😅).

💰 Pricing System

The price of each collection will now be initially set based on the total number of chapters that need to be translated.

💵 Will follow the already established rate of $5 for every 25 chapters.
Prices are set at the maximum rate and will decrease as more chapters are publicly released.

You will pay the initial amount even if the novel is not yet fully translated, but at least 20 new chapters are guaranteed each month.

Example:
Do Not Watch [Infinite] has 186 chapters.

• Starting price: $35

• The price will decrease by $5 each time 25 chapters are publicly released.

• Once Chapter 25 is released on the StarCafe website, the price adjusts to $30, and so on.

• When the full novel is complete, it will be priced at $1 for those who simply want ad-free reading via a personalized Google Drive folder.

This pricing system will apply to all future novel collections, including projects I pick up from dropped translations.

• Price: $5 (will remain until all chapters are uploaded to the StarCafe website)

• After completion, it will be adjusted to $1, mainly for those who want a personalized Drive copy.

• Includes Chapters 55–130 (my translated range)

• Price: $1

Hello, everyone!

I wanted to give you a quick look at what’s been going on behind the scenes at StarCafe, and explain why I’ve recently launched the membership and collection system on Ko-fi and Patreon.

When I first created the website, I hoped that ads would help cover hosting costs and the initial setup. Unfortunately, after four months, ad revenue has only brought in about $2 — and with a $100 minimum payout threshold, it’s clear that ads alone can’t sustain the site or the translation process. To make matters worse, my AdSense account is currently under a temporary suspension due to “multi-click” activity, which I suspect may have been caused by a technical issue in how the website was built. Fixed it and the ads are working great now >w<

Because of this, I decided to open memberships and collection options, not only to help cover ongoing hosting and editing costs, but also so I can eventually give back to the original author and novel on JJWXC once I have enough to donate.

This is also a way to keep myself motivated, knowing that there are readers actively supporting my work. In return, I’ll be committing to a stricter and more consistent update schedule, which I’ll post and maintain on both Ko-fi and Patreon.

📝 Current Status & Updates
At the moment, I’ve fully translated Did You Steal My Mage Tower? It’s available on Patreon, which I’ve found to be better for organizing novels and memberships compared to Ko-fi. I'll start translating a new novel soon, and I'll probably start posting it this week.

That said, I know I’m not perfect, so if you spot any issues in the translation or think something could be improved, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I truly appreciate honest and constructive feedback.
