Welcome to Starcafe ("we", "our", or "us"), a fan translation website where we share fan translations of Asian novels. These translations are provided for free, but extra updates may be posted when we receive donations. Additionally, readers can access advance chapters by subscribing to our Patreon membership, which allows them to read a certain number of chapters ahead of the public release schedule.

By using this website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and any updates we may apply in the future. If you do not agree with these terms, please refrain from using this website.

1. Use of Content

All translations on Starcafe are fan works and are not for commercial use. We do not own the original novels, but the fan translation itself is our work, and we reserve the rights to our translations.

  • Users are NOT allowed to copy, repost, or distribute any content from this website or our Ko-fi and Patreon exclusive posts without explicit permission.
  • If someone steals our translations, we reserve the right to take action, which may include reporting the violation to relevant platforms.

2. Membership & Donations

Patreon Membership

StarCafe offers three main membership tiers that provide access to Patreon-exclusive advance chapters for all ongoing translations:

  • Little Star ($3/month) → 4 advance chapters for all ongoing novels
  • Super Nova ($5/month) → 8 advance chapters for all ongoing novels
  • Nebula Rebirth ($10/month) → 20 advance chapters for all ongoing novels

Patreon memberships are recurring and billed monthly. You can cancel or change tiers anytime before the next billing cycle. Advance chapters are updated regularly, depending on translation progress and available stockpile. The 20 advance chapter on nebula rebirth is guaranteed within a month if its a new translation project.

Novel Collections (One-Time Access)

Each completed or ongoing novel will have its own Novel Collection, where readers can purchase one-time, permanent access to all current and future chapters through a personalized Google Drive folder.

  • Price is fixed based on total chapters to be translated: $5 per 25 chapters.
  • Example: A 100-chapter novel costs $20 at full rate. The price gradually decreases by $5 each time 25 chapters are publicly released.
  • Each buyer receives a private, view-only Google Drive folder containing:
    • A full Table of Contents with clickable chapter links
    • Automatic monthly updates (at least 20 chapters update)
    • A thank-you fanart (available before or after completion). Please credit melalah or @melalahh on Instagram
  • Access is permanent as long as Google Drive remains available. No recurring payment or subscription required.
  • Ko-fi purchases are highly recommended since the platform has smaller fees, allowing lower prices and faster delivery of Drive access.
  • Patreon Shop versions will also be available, but prices there are slightly higher due to platform and Apple (iOS) fees.

Donations, Perks, and Extra Updates

Donations on Ko-fi guarantee extra chapter updates, though timing depends on stockpile and translator availability.

  • 1 extra chapter per $3 donation on Ko-fi
  • Maximum release rate: 4 chapters per day (regular + donated). Extra releases beyond this will be scheduled over multiple days.

Patreon also has a $1 Ad-Free Membership tier. This perk lets you enjoy reading on StarCafe Patreon without ads while helping support ongoing translations.

Refunds

Donations, collection purchase and membership fees are considered voluntary contributions to support our translations and website. Because of this, they are generally non-refundable, and will only be considered in special or emergency situations. If you insist on a refund, it can still be processed but with certain limits and consequences.

Ko-fi Donations

  • Refunds for Ko-fi donations will only be considered if requested within 1 week of the original payment.
  • Refunds will be issued through PayPal only.
  • PayPal processing fees are non-refundable, so the refunded amount may be slightly less than what was donated.

Patreon Memberships

  • Patreon refunds always return the full pledge amount to the supporter, and the money is taken directly from our Patreon balance.
  • This means we lose both the amount we received and the platform + processing fees (for example: a $10 pledge gives us ~$8.58, but if refunded, the full $10 is removed from our balance).
  • Because of this, refund requests on Patreon create direct losses for us. Supporters who refund may be blocked to prevent repeated abuse.
  • If you believe a refund is absolutely necessary, please contact us first. In some cases, we may ask you to cover our lost fees via PayPal or Wise so we can process the refund fairly.

Note

  • We do our best to be transparent. All Patreon tiers and novel collection clearly state their benefits and limitations. Members are encouraged to unsubscribe the membership if they no longer wish to continue.
  • These measures are in place because translating is primarily a hobby, and the money we receive goes toward website maintenance and helping with the editing/proofreading process. If we gain more support in the future, we hope to improve and relax these refund terms.
  • Membership perks, novel collection content and donation-based chapter rates may change at our discretion.

3. User Conduct

To maintain a positive environment, users must adhere to the following rules:

  • No offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate usernames.
  • Comments must be respectful and free of hate speech, harassment, or inflammatory remarks.
  • No spam, harassment, or inappropriate content.
  • We reserve the right to delete violating comments and, in severe cases, remove the user’s account.

4. Limitation of Liability

This website is hosted and maintained entirely out of pocket, with support from readers’ donations. Delays, errors, or downtime may occur.
